Emily's Baby Shower 5-21-11

Karan and I hosted Emily's baby shower this weekend at Route 66 State Park in Eureka, MO.  They were calling for rain all morning/afternoon but it ended up being a beautiful day!  Not one drop of rain fell...thank GOD!  We ate good food, played games, and she opened lots of gifts.  Now we're just waiting for baby Liam to make his appearance!

After the shower we celebrated Luke & Emily's high school graduation with Karan's family at Happy Joe's.  We also celebrated Grandma Kruse's birthday!  Lots of things to celebrate!!!  =)  Sunday afternoon we met at Olive Garden to enjoy lunch together and say our goodbyes.  It was a great weekend!

♥ Happy Mother's Day ♥

This is for all mothers!

And in honor of Mother's Day here are a few sayings about moms I thought were good:

The phrase "working mother" is redundant. ~Jane Sellman

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs in my field, since the payment is pure love. ~Mildred B. Vermont

If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been.  ~Robert Brault

She never quite leaves her children at home, even when she doesn't take them along. ~Margaret Culkin Banning

If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands? ~Milton Berle

Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own. ~Aristotle

And my favorite (because it is sooo sooo true):

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty

I would like to dedicate this song to my incredible son, Christian.  He lights up my life in a way I never thought possible.  I'm so very proud to be your mom and I love you with all my heart!  ♥ Mommy

New Windsor Trip 4-30-11

We spent this past weekend in New Windsor, IL visiting Karan's side of the family.  We celebrated Karan's 50th birthday on Saturday and Christian & Josh got to hunt for Easter Eggs.  Little Brittany Kruse was baptized on Sunday - she is beautiful.  Christian and Josh kept hugging each other...it was the sweetest thing ever!

Happy Easter!

Since Easter Sunday was also Karan's 50th birthday we had them over for dinner Saturday evening.  Paul grilled steaks and I made twice baked potatoes, sweet green beans, garlic cheese bread and a strawberry poke cake (which is super easy by the way).  It was all yummy!  Happy Birthday Karan!!!

Christian opened his Easter basket from Grammy, Papa, Uncle Luke and Aunt Emma which included his first chocolate Easter bunny so we let him have that after dinner.  He probably ate about 1/4 of it...which is more than I expected.  He's not big on sweets.  Are we sure he's really my kid???  =)

Easter Sunday was spent at my parent's house where Christian had his first Easter Egg Hunt.   He also got three baskets filled with candy, toys, and even big boy underwear from Grandma!  Happy Easter!
